Best Small Chicken Coops

We really appreciate you taking the time to visit our website. We are very excited about Best Small Chicken Coops because of the increasing number of people that are raising chickens in their backyard! It is kind of ironic and a little bit like fashion in the fact that chickens are making a comeback! We believe that it is mostly the desire to get back to some outdoor living. We think people are tired of artificial lights, computers and keyboards. We know they make our lives easier (usually) but for those of us that spend a good part of our day in front of a computer, filling out reports and filing paperwork, the idea of collecting fresh organic eggs is just relaxing.

Because of the increasing popularity of chicken coops, there is room for "best small chicken coops" because there are many designs on the market! There are all kinds of chicken houses out there and truly, the best chicken coop is the one that is best for you. There are some key points that make a chicken coop functional. A chicken coop should have a hen house, a roost, and nesting box(es). It needs to be safe and secure. They say chickens that feel safe are better egg producers (which makes sense). Easy access, easy to clean and easy egg collection are all benefits as well. When we look for the best small chicken coops, we will discuss some of these points based on the information that is available to us.

Besides chicken coops, our future plans include additional sections on topics similar to portable chicken coops, live chickens for sale, bantam chickens and chicken tractor plans but for now, we will probably stick to getting the chicken coops and raising chickens areas filled out first. Green Roof Chicken Coop

Green Roof Chicken Coop is a great place to look for a small chicken coop. Of course, small is still a relative term. The original green roof chicken coop has the smallest footprint as it is a four foot cube. There herb garden coop is quite a bit longer and over eight feet long but it also has the chicken run built into the coop. We will say that these chicken coops are designed to last. Obviously, like any wood product, painting, staining and sealing will make it last longer. The pond liner on these chicken coops will seal the roof. Although, the Herb Garden Coop has a design for drains. In order to drain the roof, you will need to punch a hole in the pond liner. Though it doesn't say so in the instructions, we think it is wise to seal the drain to the pond liner with and adhesive. Also, pushing the pond liner through the hole in the wood will help protect the wood as the water will not be able to seep beneath the pond liner onto the wood. Anyway, we probably went off on a tangent but though it might be helpful to mention. These are great chicken coops. The original green roof (on the right below) is designed for four chickens. The herb garden coop (on the left below) can accommodate up to six. Both sets of plans have shopping lists, cut lists, and step-by-step instructions. Both sets of chicken coop plans cost about $35. If you like the design, the plans are worth the money as they will save you a lot of time. We have included some pictures below. Enjoy!

Electronic Chicken Coop Plans

There are many e-books on the market for building chicken coops and a variety of chicken coop blueprints. For the most part, these e-books are functional. We have looked through several of them and they are a good value when it comes to the number of chicken coop plans for the money you are spending. That being said, they're great for people that are still not sure what they want to do with their chicken coops or for the creative types that are looking for a base set of plans that they intend to modify. These e-books offer multiple sets of plans and interesting freebies. For example, the Chicken Kit E-book comes with the "Disease Diagnoser" which is nice. All of these e-books come with free tutorials and educational guides. The freebies with Building a Chicken Coop is mostly about the actual construction of the chicken coop. Anyway, each of these e-books have their own pitch pages and they describe why they are the best! They all have a money back guarantee and are certainly worth a look. We get different feedback on the different e-books. The top two are slightly more popular than the bottom two but it really depends on what you want. You will get a feel for the designs offered by each as you view their websites. Just click through each of the books to visit their sites (and let us know what you think as we love updating our site with public opinion!). Enjoy!
